Hitler vs. Martin Luther King essays

Hitler vs. Martin Luther King essays The following is comparison between two very famous people in history. Although they were both completely different, they both had a great impact on people. I compared Adolph Hitler and Martin Luther King. Future generations will always remember both, Hitler as the incarnation of absolute evil and Martin Luther King for his courage, achievement and high moral leadership. Adolph Hitler knew how to please, impress and charm his supporters. The savior admired by his own as he dragged them into his madness, the Satan and exterminating angel feared and hated by all others, Hitler led his people to a shameful defeat without precedent. His endless hatred of Jews, whose survival enraged him. He invested so much energy in his hatred of Jews. He had night trains that took them to their death. Even up the end Hitler still had the mind to come up with the Final Solution. In his testament, drafted in underground bunker just hours before his suicide in Berlin, Hitler returns again to this hatred of the Jewish people that had never left him. His kingdom collapsed after 12 years in a war that remains the most atrocious, the most brutal and the deadliest in history. Whenever evil is mentioned among the first names that will surge to mind will be that of a fanatic with a mustache called Hitler. Three decades after King was gunned down on a motel balcony in Memphis, Tenn., he is still regarded mainly as the black leader of a movement for black equality. For all King did to free blacks from the yoke of segregation, whites may owe him the greatest debt, for liberating them from the burden of America's centuries-old hypocrisy about race. It is only because of King and the movement that he led that the U.S. can claim to be the leader of the "free world" without inviting smirks of disdain and disbelief. Had he and the blacks and whites that marched beside him failed. Even after the Supreme Court struck down segregation in 1954, what t ...

ROMANITC LOVE TOPIC IN BOTH RENAISSANCE LIERATURE AND MUSIC Essay

ROMANITC LOVE TOPIC IN BOTH RENAISSANCE LIERATURE AND MUSIC - Essay Example This has transcended to madrigal singers who originally only sang secular music but eventually took romantic love as part of their music repertoire. Thus madrigal singers took a turn with renaissance sonnets as they began singing love songs from the traditional sing of praise. The most plausible reason that be deduced is to this is that renaissance sonnets fit the well-crafted composition of madrigals not to mention that the loftiness of the theme of love nears the loftiness of Praise. Unlike a typical singer which we know today, madrigals are typically composed of several persons composed of four vocal parts – the soprano, alto, tenor and the pass. Soprano and alto are typically sung by women due to its high pitch while the tenor and bass are usually sung by men. A madrigal singer attempts to express strong emotion contained in a well composed line of which a celebrated sonnet makes a perfect fit. Madrigals can also be said as the highest form of music that typically appeals only to the cultivated and the learned due to the sophistication of its medium. It follows then that the words enunciated by a madrigal music must also be equal to its form and what better lines can be sung by a madrigal than the measured meter of a sonnet. Madrigals were traditionally sang for secular purposes but eventually evolved to also sing celebrated love sonnets of renaissance literature due to the loftiness of its words and purpose that equal to a praise. Its highly structured singing made love sonnets a perfect for the medium of a madrigal thus appealing to the sophisticated audience. Today however, madrigal has evolved further. It still sing love songs but no longer confine itself to the sonnets of renaissance literature albeit the sonnets of the renaissance literature set the bar of the lyrics that can be sang by

Friendship Essay Example for Free

Friendship Essay In our society, no one can live without friends. It would be a lonely and bored life without friend. Life becomes more beautiful when we have friends. But what is friendship? Different life experiences make up different meanings of friendship for different people. I believe a friend can share our happiness and sorrow and is always with us to solve our problems and make us happy. Friendship is about action, not a state of mind. A friend can support us while we are on the right path and can have the courage to stand in front of you when you are in the wrong way. Our friendships change while we grow up, especially for teenagers. The teenage years are a time of physical, emotional, and social growth and change. As teenagers, we all want to make friends. When we are younger, our parents control us. We do not have time to make our own friends. As we grow up, our parents give us more free time. We start to make our own friends and hang out with them. I have many friends. One of them is Joana Rose Nacional, Joana for short. She was born on October 27, 1999. Her parents are Evelyn and Godofredo Nacional. She is a fine girl of fair complexion with straight brown hair flowing on her head. She has two beautiful eyes and a well set nose. Her weight which is 50 kilograms is really more than mine. She’s more healthy than I am, and she loves food. In fact, she likes â€Å"sinigang na baboy†, her mother’s lasagna, pastel de lengua, lengua estofado, ice cream and chocolates. Her favorite colors are green, blue, and red. Her favorite books are Harry Potter, Tuesdays with Morrie, and others. Her favorite kind of clothes are those with a touch of Korean and American fashion. Her favorite symbol is a star because, according to her, she wants to shine at the darkest part of other people’s life. Her favorite subjects are Grammar Composition and Mathematics. As a big KPOP fan, her favorite celebrities are those of Korean ethics. She descirbes herself as Religious. Her ambitions in life are to be a lawyer or a graduate in Engineering or Chemical Engineering. All she wishes for are to go to Korea ,meet her favorite KPOP artists and get to live with them, travel around the world, have a successful life, and most importantly, have a peaceful and happy life with her family. Most of us may make friends and are very careful of whom we choose. We choose friends as we grow up because we start to realize what true friends are. We have more experiences in life. We know what kind of friends we need. Friends never fade away, in fact, they grow better with time. Friendship comes so rarely, and without it, we are lost. Whatever happens, we should keep our friends close to our heart, tell them how they are important to us and not let them slip away. If they do, go out and get them back.

Program Review of the Iowa State University Office of Academic Information Technologies :: Technology Essays Technological

Program Review of the Iowa State University Office of Academic Information Technologies Essentiality: The mission of the Office of Academic Information Technologies (AIT) at Iowa State is to support campus academics through information technology (IT). It seems in the â€Å"information age† of the research university that this mission truly is an essential element, especially in light of ISU’s institutional mission of enhancing learning, promoting discovery, and engaging constituents. Indeed, this mission cannot be accomplished currently without a robust IT infrastructure. Quality: In rankings based on computing resources and services available to undergraduates, Iowa State was ranked 20th in the most recent (AIT, 2000) research university category of Yahoo’s â€Å"Most Wired† colleges and universities. While critics have questioned the usefulness of these types of ratings suggesting that thoroughness of application is really what is measured, it does show that the quality of information technology at ISU has been noticed in a peer rated study. Internally, where critics are usually the most vociferous, students, faculty, and staff have had both praise and disapproval. The harshest criticism of late have been the addition of a Microsoft Licensing Agreement which students believe to be a waste of their student fees (Iowa State Daily, 2002). Although quality, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, the quality of IT as measured by peers, students, faculty, and staff is at least average and probably above average within Iowa Stateâ⠂¬â„¢s peer institutions. Availability: AIT has taken pride over the years in giving students, faculty, and staff almost unlimited access to the university’s IT resources. The Durham Center for Computation and Telecommunications has been one of only a handful of buildings on campus open 24 hours, seven days a week. The supply of open computers within the Durham Center has usually outpaced demand except for small rush periods during the semester. Accessibility for disabled clients has also been a priority. Recent budget cuts have taken their toll on this availability however. During the last year, the center has reduced its open hours from 24 to 17 on weekdays and 14 on weekends, more closely mimicking the library’s open hours policy. Another limitation has been levied upon a few heavy Internet users in the dormitories (Iowa State Daily, 2001). Because of this heavy use, at a cost to other, less intense users, a limit has been placed on the amount of information that can be downloaded from dorm computers.

A Critique of Martin Luther Ki essays

A Critique of Martin Luther Ki essays A Critique of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Version of Natural Law Theory Paradoxically, Martin Luther King, Jr., in his "Letter from Birmingham City Jail," initially uses classical natural law theory to defend his actions, but immediately thereafter contradicts a fundamental tenet of this theory and relies on a "weaker" version of natural law. In doing so, King must attempt to formulate a theory which justifies his illegal actions in view of his moral obligation to obey the law. King's failure to distinguish between legal obligations and moral obligations yields a logical paradox in his final formulation of natural law theory. However, King's theory need not be completely rejected if his argument is slightly modified to reject the moral obligation to obey laws. King initially uses classical natural law theory as his rational basis to defend his actions. This theory has two main component claims according to Murphy and Coleman (Sourcebook, I-35), the first being, "Moral validity is a logically necessary condition for legal validity- an unjust or immoral law being no law at all" followed by, "The moral order is a part of the natural order- moral duties being in some sense "read off" from essences or purposes fixed (perhaps by God) in nature." According to this theory, morality law, but law = morality by definition. Thus for King to use this theory, two requirements are implicit. He must assert that an unjust law is not really a law, and he must provide a moral theory to distinguish just and unjust laws. King first quotes St. Augustine, "an unjust law is no law at all," to emphasize his agreement with the first claim. He then includes the "law of God" as his moral theory to provide the framework upon which to judge the law. His argument using classical natural law theory at first seems to be a valid and necessary defense for breaking the la...

Difference Between Relative and Absolute Location

Difference Between Relative and Absolute Location Both relative location and absolute location are geographic terms used to describe the location of a place on the Earths surface. They are each unique in their ability to pinpoint a location on Earth. Relative Location Relative location refers to locating a place relative to other landmarks.  For example, you could give the relative location of St. Louis, Missouri as being in eastern Missouri, along the Mississippi River southwest of Springfield, Illinois.    As one drives along most major highways, there are mileage signs indicating the distance to the next town or city.   This information expresses your current location relative to the upcoming place. So, if a highway sign states that St. Louis is 96 miles away from Springfield, you know your relative location from St. Louis.    Relative location is also a term that is used to indicate a places location within a larger context.   For example, one could state that Missouri is located in the Midwest of the United States and is bordered by Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. That is the relative location of Missouri based on its location within the United States.    Alternatively, you could state that Missouri is south of Iowa and north of Arkansas. This is yet another example of relative location. Absolute Location On the other hand, absolute location references a place on the Earths surface based on specific geographic coordinates, such as latitude and longitude. Based on the previous example of St. Louis,  the absolute location of St. Louis is 38 °43 North 90 °14 West. One can also give an address as an absolute location. For example, the absolute location of St. Louis City Hall is  1200 Market Street, St. Louis, Missouri 63103. By providing the full address you can pinpoint the location of St. Louis City Hall on a map.   While you can give the geographic coordinates of a city or a building, it is difficult to provide the absolute location of an area such as a state or country because such places cant be pinpointed. With some difficulty, you could provide the absolute locations of the boundaries of the state or country but most of the time its easier to just display a map or describe the relative location of a place like a state or country.

Geography Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 12

Geography - Essay Example Early days lay down a foundation for a future and I think I have laid down a foundation to pursue a career in the field of geography. A geographical analyst can review the conditions of this world and evaluate as to if they are deteriorating over time or not. This can help to enlighten the world about the problems that may be unknown to them previously. I believe that I can bring a change into the world by founding a career in this field and researching on the geographical patterns that occur all around the world. The different calamities that are happening all over the world are invariably due to some changes in the geographical patterns of this world. I can thus use the power of knowledge to find out the real reasons behind the changes in the geography of this world (Sopher, 2015). Similarly during this vocation, I have gained an understanding of the deeper aspects of the subject. I believe that these deeper aspects would help me to understand geography more in the future. It can help me to build a community that is aware of the problems which might affect them as a whole. Moreover, I can use this knowledge at my workplace in the larger benefit of the whole organization. In order to succeed in life, I believe that one should be dedicated to the vocation that he is pursuing in life and I think that I have this dedication to the field of geography. I can help my family understand the deeper meanings of geography and can encourage them to create awareness about the minor things such as the use of deodorants which can get trapped in the outer layer of this earth and cause green house gases to accumulate. The reason behind choosing my vocation revolves around the betterment of this world as a whole and a success that would bring about a change in the whole world (S opher, 2015). It can be said that one needs to be focused on any vocation that he has chosen so that he can be successful in life. I believe that I have enough focus on the vocation that I
